All over the world lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are being criminalised, tortured or ill-treated because of their sexuality.

Amnesty and our LGBT Network work to expose these human rights abuses. We challenge governments and state authorities to fulfil their responsibility to protect LGBT people from such abuses.

We campaign to protect human rights defenders who put themselves at risk by speaking out against human rights abuses based on sexuality or gender identity.

The Scottish office, based in Edinburgh, provides a focus for Amnesty campaigning and fundraising in Scotland. On March 16 2011, the Scottish office moved to:
