STA Forum aims to bring together trans people and their allies from around Scotland to discuss key gender identity and gender reassignment equality issues and to steer the future work of the Scottish Transgender Alliance.

Marriage Equality for Trans People:
The Scottish Government's Marriage Equality Consultation runs until 9th December 2011 and has the potential to lead to the removal of the divorce requirement from the Gender Recognition Act 2004. (

This STA Forum on 22nd October provides a unique opportunity for trans people to:
- discuss marriage equality for trans people directly with the Scottish Government civil servants running the consultation;
- decide the content of the Scottish Transgender Alliance formal written response to the Scottish Government Marriage Equality Consultation;
- learn how to easily submit your own individual or group written consultation response to the Scottish Government
Gender Identity Monitoring Questions:
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) recently published research by the National Centre for Social Research (NAT-CEN) into possible phrasings of gender identity monitoring questions which could be used by public bodies. The

This STA Forum on 22nd October provides a unique opportunity for trans people to:
-
learn about the key findings of the research into gender identity monitoring questions (you don't need to have read the research report);
- discuss directly with Scottish Government statiticians your views on whether the questions proposed in the research should be implemented by public bodies in Scotland;
- decide the content of new Scottish Transgender Alliance guidance on gender identity monitoring
