The History Boys - Fringe 2010

The History Boys by Alan Bennett - Edinburgh Fringe 16th to 22nd August.

"QETC's Grade A Production. Recommended!" TimeOut magazine.

The Amsterdam-based Queen’s English Theatre Company (QETC) brings its sell-out production of Alan Bennett’s award-winning The History Boys to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2010.

Recommended by TimeOut Amsterdam as “a grade-A production”, QETC has created a unique and tension-filled interpretation of Bennett’s acclaimed play featuring young British actors in the roles of the boys.

Regarded as a semi-autobiographical account of Bennett’s own school days, The History Boys is set in a Yorkshire grammar school full of staffroom rivalries and adolescent intrigues. It follows the plight of eight bright schoolboys in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at Oxbridge.

A taut and impressionable comedy, The History Boys was a sell out in London’s National Theatre and West End, picking up six Tony Awards on Broadway and spawning a 2007 hit film.

Get a taste of this edgy production of Alan Bennett's modern classic - our brand new TRAILER is available to view on YouTube.

The QETC production of The History Boys runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from August 16th – August 22nd at 4:30pm at Spotlites @ The Merchants’ Hall (22 Hanover Street).

Founded in Amsterdam in 2002, the QETC’s production of another Bennett play, Habeas Corpus, ran for two sell-out seasons in Amsterdam and toured in Europe. Other production credits include Little Shop of Horrors (2008), Torch Song Trilogy (2006/07), Curse of the Werewolf (2005), Bedroom Farce (2003) and The Importance of Being Earnest (2002).
