Who are we looking to speak to in Scotland?
We are looking for a number of individuals who would be willing to take part in an informal, confidential, face to face discussion in early Feb.
We would be looking to make contact in January with any suitable participants so we can explain the process and supply individuals with a DVD of clips to look at before the discussion takes place.
If you are interested in helping us find a few individuals who would be interested in taking part, we are specifically looking for:
3 lesbians who are aged 28 – 40 and are recently out (by this we mean out in the last 12months or so to at least 2 of the following 3 groups - work colleagues, friends, some family).
We would also ideally like them to be regular viewers / listeners of some BBC programmes / content, perhaps one of the following: BBC ONE, BBC TWO, BBC THREE, BBC FOUR, Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 4, Radio 6 Music or users of bbc.co.uk
3 bisexuals who are aged 20 – 40 and are recently out (by this we mean out in the last 12months or so to at least 2 of the following 3 groups - work colleagues, friends, some family).
They can be male or female
We would also ideally like them to be regular viewers / listeners of some BBC programmes / content, perhaps one of the following: BBC ONE, BBC TWO, BBC THREE, Radio 1, Radio 2 or users of bbc.co.uk
It may be that you have other individuals who would like to take part – we would be interested to hear details of these people, though we cannot guarantee that they will be included at this stage as we are trying to get a very broad mix of people from across the UK.
The research project details in full
The BBC is conducting a wide-ranging market research study to help them better understand perceptions of LGB portrayal across TV, radio and online output.
This research will consider the views of a wide range of LGB audiences, as well as the views of heterosexual audiences, and it is being launched to help the BBC better understand how its content and programmes are viewed in this area. It will feed in directly to how programmes are made and the BBC plans to share this research with the industry once the findings are released in the summer. However, we would be grateful if you could treat this invitation as confidential. Please find attached to this email an introduction to the project from the BBC which will give you more information.
What has this got to do with you and your organisation you may ask?
Well, 2CV research has been commissioned to conduct the research on behalf of the BBC and we are contacting you because we’d really value your input and assistance into accessing some of the people that we would like to contact.
The research would be happening in w/c 1st February 2010 and we were hoping that you could invite some people to come along to a confidential research session.
Please be assured that the interviews are completely anonymous, our client will not be able to identify who has taken part in the research, they will not be given your, or the participants contact details and you will not be sold anything. If you would like to check out 2CV’s bona fide credentials please don’t hesitate to contact the MRS (Market Research Society) on Freephone 0500 39 69 99
Please let us know if you need any further information at all, we are happy to answer any questions that you may have.
