Objectives

The forum will meet once every three months, in locations across Scotland, and will be governed by a steering group made up of community members and representatives of LGBT groups and statutory bodies.

The objectives of the National LGBT Forum are:

To improve the social inclusion of LGBT people in Scotland by using our collective strength to challenge exclusion and inequality.
To strengthen partnerships between LGBT groups and organisations by creating a space which allows knowledge sharing to take place.
To increase understanding of multiple and cross-strand issues, providing opportunities for cooperative working across the seven equality strands.
To promote awareness and understanding of LGBT needs within statutory bodies and service providers to ensure equality of access.
To support members of the LGBT communities to enable their full participation in society by consulting with members on key national decisions and by supporting participation in local democracy and planning.
