Seminar Three: Bodies, embodiment, and bodily practices

This seminar will consider policy and practice in health and social care within a broader context of issues relating to embodiment, body image and bodily practices associated with the LGBT communities.

Will be held: 23rd October 2009 (Events listing)

Themes include:

  • Transgendered embodiment and body-related negotiations and exchanges with therapists and medical practitioners
  • Innovative approaches to engaging with issues of image and the body through performance and the arts
  • Questions of heteronormativity and homonormativity in relation to disability, ageing and gender
  • Formal and informal networks of support, help and care within LGBT
