Volunteer Office Support - Equality Network Conference

Volunteer Office Support

About the Equality Network

The Equality Network is a registered charity that works and campaigns for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender  people in Scotland. We are a national organisation based in Edinburgh, with five full-time and  three part-time staff.

About the Opportunity

The Equality Network runs an annual conference for everyone with an interest in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equality in Scotland. The conference is attended by individuals and by representatives from groups, statutory bodies, and businesses.

This year's conference is planned to take place in Dundee, on Saturday 14th November 2009.

We are looking for a volunteer who will make targeted mailings to organisations and groups to publicise the conference, with follow-up phone calls, and track the registrations received. Other administrative work connected with the conference may also be required. This opportunity provides  office experience and direct involvement with a notable annual event in LGBT equality: if you are interested in working in the voluntary sector, this role would give you an extraordinary opportunity to make yourself known to people who work in equalities organisations across the sector, and to people in public sector organisations such as the NHS and the police.

Skills & Experience: The volunteer must have a pleasant phone manner, experience with data entry and use of Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Access, good written and spoken English.

Travel Details: At the Equality Network office, 30 Bernard Street, Edinburgh, EH6 4PR, reasonable travel expenses will be paid.

Work Type: Administrative / Office Work

Client Group: lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in Scotland

Expenses Detail: Reasonable travel expenses paid.

Accessibility Details
Wheelchair Access: True
Disabled Toilet: False

Frequency & Commitment: 3 hours per week, days negotiable, able to start by first week in September.

Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

If you are interested, please contact jane@equality-network.org by 17th August 2009.
