About The Equality Network

A Fairer Scotland For LGBT People

The Equality Network is a leading organisation in Scotland promoting equality, human rights and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people and communities. We are a registered charity governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.

Our vision is of an inclusive Scotland which celebrates diversity and where all LGBT are treated fairly. To achieve this we work at national, community, individual and cultural levels.

Our overall mission is to promote LGBT equality and rights. However as co-ordinator of the Scottish Transgender Alliance we also have a distinctive remit to be the lead national body for the transgender communities in Scotland. We are proud to have been the first organisation in Europe to receive central government funding to promote transgender rights and inclusion.

We have also been highly proactive and effective in placing LGBT equality within a broader equality and rights agenda, and have worked closely with organisations focussed on age, disability, gender, race and religion and belief.  This means we are extremely well placed to play a key role in a changing equality environment where there is a greater emphasis on shared agendas and cross-strand initiatives.
